My Training & Methodology
ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture has been used in Asia for over 2,000 years. Until the early 20th century, Acupuncture and Chinese herbs were the main form of medicine used to treat all ailments in China. From cancer to the common cold, millions of people every year turned to Acupuncture and herbal medicine. Cupping is another method used in TCM, which has gained popularity with many professional athletes.
After the last Emperor of China left the throne in 1911, European methods of medical treatment started to percolate into Chinese healthcare. Today, Acupuncture is still used in almost half of all the hospitals in China. While in residency there, Dr. Gores saw the harmony of Eastern and Western medicine help thousands of patients. It was considered a method of primary care on a routine basis. For example, it would be standard procedure for a patient to get an x-ray, and then come to the Orthopedic Acupuncture clinic for immediate treatment.
Acupuncture is part of a complete holistic health care system, and provides safe and effective treatment for both acute and chronic disease. It enhances the body’s innate ability to heal itself, improving overall physiological function and promoting emotional wellbeing. Acupuncture is also used as preventative medicine, strengthening immunity and supporting overall health. Many acute health issues will see a difference after just one or two treatments. But as with any medical treatment model, long-term or chronic issues will take time and commitment to treatment for complete healing.
PREVENTION + SUPPORT
Acupuncture can be used to prevent injury and support optimal health. Promoting proper circulation and blood flow, relaxing muscle tension, and reducing stress are benefits of acupuncture.
SPORTS INJURIES
Acupuncture has been shown to reduce inflammation and neuromodulate pain signals to the brain. This is an effective strategy for orthopedics and sports medicine injury recovery.
RECOVERY + RESTORATION
Increasing circulation to detox metabolic waste from cells can decrease recovery time and optimize healing. Research has shown that stem cells can be stimulated with specific acupuncture techniques.

HERBAL MEDICINE
Prescribing herbal medicine is a highly refined skill and considered an art in traditional Chinese medicine. Chinese herbalism is unique in that it allows practitioners to customize a specific herb or herb combination for your particular condition. Our clinic is dedicated to the practice of herbal medicine and uses herbs that are hand-selected from small companies that chemically test each batch for authenticity, heavy metals, and pesticides. We also utilize local, organic and sustainable herbs as often as possible.
Over 40% of pharmaceutical medicines used today are derived from compounds found in an enormous variety of plants, roots, and barks. This demonstrates the efficacy of herbal medicine and the possible future of discovering new medicines. Utilizing the raw plant has been shown to have fewer of the many common side-effects of Western pharmaceuticals. Clients who are very sensitive to prescription medications often benefit greatly with this approach.
Herbal medicine can be very effective for common ailments such as: common cold, allergies, insomnia, high blood pressure, headaches, and diabetes. Custom herbal prescriptions, tinctures, powders and teas are available on an individual basis.
