Monte Gores, DAOM, L.Ac.
Dr. Monte Gores is a board certified acupuncturist and herbalist by the state of Colorado, California, and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). With over 25 years of experience in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine, Dr. Gores brings a long history of clinical practice and knowledge to address common medical issues.
In 1992, Dr. Gores began studying yoga, martial arts, and meditation while attending Arizona State University. This was his first introduction to eastern medicine and philosophy. In 1999, he began his formal training in acupuncture, Qi Gong, and herbal medicine while apprenticing at Quan Yin Healing Arts Center in San Francisco. This center was world famous for treating hepatitis C and HIV communities using an integrative medical approach.
After leaving a stressful job with Goldman Sachs in Chicago and San Francisco, Dr. Gores studied Chinese language for a year before traveling to China. He wanted to visit the origins of Chinese medicine before embarking on a lifetime of study and medical practice. Upon returning to San Francisco, he attended one of the top Traditional Chinese Medicine schools in North America, The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM), for four years.
Dr. Gores also received extensive training in China. Areas of expertise included orthopedics, diabetes, fertility, oncology, migraines, hepatitis and nephrology. After graduating magna cum laude, Dr. Gores opened an Acupuncture clinic in Arizona. While maintaining a busy clinical practice, he completed a two year Doctoral program at the famous Emperor’s College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Santa Monica. The Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) is the highest level of education in the field of Chinese medicine in America.
Dr. Gores enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, tai chi, aikido, and cooking Italian food in his free time.
Dr. Gores was awesome. I came to CdA for Ironman and needed some last minute treatment on my achilles and lower legs race week. He made time for me later in the day early enough in the week to allow for adequate recovery. Dr. Gores took the time to listen to my concerns and was very comprehensive in his treatment protocol. From acupuncture, to cupping, to massage. After a day of recovery – I felt much better and ready to go. No problems at all on race day. I don’t know if I would have survived the full day without the last treatment from Dr. Gores. Extremely knowledgeable practitioner.
Dr. Monte Gores is a practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs working at the top of his craft. Having worked with several acupuncturists through the years Dr. Gores is simply the best I’ve had the pleasure of coming into contact with. A minimalist, with a deep understanding of human wellness and the systems that support it, he also shows great compassion and an understated, gentle sense of humor. I would recommend him to anyone, whether they are new to acupuncture or committed to it as a source of wellness.
Monte Gores is an amazing acupuncturist. Among many, many issues he eliminated the knee pain I was experiencing from arthritis. I was skeptical but he convinced me to have two treatments a week for four weeks and he was right! No more knee pain! Using his training in Chinese herbs Monte put me on a schedule of mushrooms and other herbs when I was diagnosed with two early melanomas. I am now 5 years out with no recurrence. Leaving Monte’s care was a huge concern when we moved away from Flagstaff. I haven’t found anyone of his caliber since.
